Here is an interesting article written by former Republican Governor of New Jersey and EPA Administrator Christy Witman. It explains a lot of the misinformation and false narratives appearing in the "news" today about BEVs.
Sadly, it's not just the oil industry that does fear-mongering. Many of the auto manufacturers and their Steeler ships promulgate the FUD as well. Forbes did a nice article on the issue just a few days ago. The Misinformation Around Electric Vehicles You could spend a lifetime countering all of the FUD in the rest of that linked article. .
Ireland is the first country to divest itself from oil industry investments With countries mandating a phase out of ICE for personal transportation and countries pulling vast sums of money from oil investments, the dominoes continue to fall. If I were to short any stock (which I don't play that game) it would be fossil fuel stocks.
Interesting: Source: Oil exec accused of impersonating Elon Musk to steal Tesla's company secrets | Technology | The Guardian An oil executive accused of impersonating Elon Musk in an email in an attempt to solicit company secrets from Tesla wants the lawsuit thrown out because he says his impersonation wasn’t credible. Todd Katz was the former chief financial officer of Quest Integrity, which provides services to oil and gas companies such as ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron and Shell. In September, Tesla filed a lawsuit against Katz, claiming he set up the email address [email protected] to impersonate the company’s CEO and then used it to try and extract sensitive information from Tesla chief financial officer Jason Wheeler. According to the lawsuit, Katz sent an email from the [email protected]account to Wheeler on 3 August 2016 requesting more detailed information about Tesla’s second-quarter financial results that were released on the same day. . . . This was news to me. Let me suggest identify a source for such claims. After a little searching, the case was closed: Tesla Motors, Inc. vs Todd Katz, 16CV299916 (California State, Santa Clara County, Superior Court) via Docket Alarm 8/31/2017 Hearing: Dismissal after settlement FYI, Katz is described as "unemployed" in one court pleading trying to get the case dismissed. I don't see any merit to this piece by Christy Whitman even though I was big fan of hers and voted for her for gov of NJ at the time. Last I knew she was promoting nuclear power so I see this as a pro-electrification advocacy piece, blaming the usual scapegoats.
The first time I got irked at Mrs. Whitman was when I was fighting coal fired power plants being built my backyard in NJ. I managed to help stop one of them. She is an electric utility person, in my view.
Shell oil is building a multi billion dollar cracker plant in Beaver County Pa. There will be lots of jobs created but would you want it in your back yard? Will it be environmentally friendly. Just down the river from there is where the first commercial nuclear power plant opened back in the day at Shipping Port Pa. Cracker plants bring more opportunities | News, Sports, Jobs - The Review

My father started up the Shippingport nuclear plant as a young engineer with Westinghouse. Admiral Rickover of course was the head micro-manager. Sometimes I wonder if we have to go back to that military-style running of plants (of all kinds).
