A deep dive, there are some 'a miracle occurs here': California ARB Annual Review 2018 issue Bob Wilson
'gov brown sets goal of 200 fueling stations by 2025. to meet this ambitious goal', (we're gonna need more money!)
a goal of 5 million rev's by 2030, of which fcev's will comprise a 'significant' portion. let's see: tesla m3, 5,000/week x 50 = 250,000/yr x 10 years = 2.5m alone. gonna be quite a ramp up for fcev's.
The executive summary read like a glowing infomercial with more future dates (to miss, but still) promised. I dare not read more or I might want to hang myself. .
Challenging Chu on Hydrogen Fuel Cells - MIT Technology Review When Mary queen of CARB heard DOE was cutting the Fuel cell subsides she went into high gear to lobby claiming funding was restored, and now we have nearly 5000 fuel cell vehicles in California in mid 2018. That exaggeration of 4400 to 'nearly 5,000' is not really a big deal when the goal posts were 10 times as high. The goal in 2013 was 100 hydrogen stations by 2020, they aren't going to make it, and claim that the 64 is beating the goal of 62 they set a year ago so things are going really really well. So well in fact that stations don't have hydrogen. oops. They definitely need more money if they are going to claim that the market will decide and want to say hydrogen is viable. It isn't in the near term, even honda now says that. 2027, who knows maybe in a decade. The billions in government subsidies can't put lipstick on this pig, so of course carb as part of the hydrogen lobby wants to grow and get more government money. First they said we need to invest because people will want them more than plug-ins. Now they say government needs to invest because they are so far behind plug ins and people won't buy them if the government can't give them more money. This is the definition of crony capitalism, but of course the government seems to be doing its thing to subsidize steel, and coal too which are more dangerous.
With a quick search I couldn’t find anything on the buildout of the infrastructure or similar logistics. How Hydrogen is Made (2015) | Union of Concerned Scientists They hold hydrogen can be produced in a number of ways, all of which are better than the average ICE car (which is true). It wou;d be interesting to see something more in-depth from them.
