Can anyone help i bought 2010 Toyota prius new generation, about a month ago it is done 137k, now when i give acceleration up hill then hold the acceleration at the half press level it hesitate and engine shiver, a mechanic told me to replace air filter and spark plugs, i did but it is still the same
welcome! could be dirty throttle body, oxygen sensors, egr circuit and intake manifold. does she burn any oil? possibly a weak battery cell causing the engine to work harder. start by checking for trouble codes with tech stream. if none, read through gen 3 maintenance and troubleshooting threads for clues. all the best!
Thanks i was talking to the mechanic about the fuel filter, but he said the car has only been driven 137k so it can't be, plus no code light on the dashboard
When I search the Repair Manual for "hesitation", this is the first hit, in the troubleshooting section: I'd start with the easiest, maybe Throttle body cleaning (@NutzAboutBolts has a video on that, pinned at top of 3rd gen maintenance sub-forum), and cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF sensor). Use MAF sensor cleaner, it says it on the can, nothing else. CRC make one, and there's YouTube video on how to do it. I'd second all @bisco's suggestions, with the miles you have the EGR in particular is probably getting clogged. Again, see the aforementioned @NutzAboutBolts thread for EGR cleaning. Have the plugs been changed; it was due at 120K miles IIRC.
If it happened suddenly, and you'd recently bought gas, that would scream "fuel filter." If you hadn't just bought gas, that doesn't rule out the filter, but it does open up the other options.
