My 2010's hazard lights are going on and off intermittently and flashing at different speeds. I suspected that it was the switch but the problem still occurs after the switch is disconnected, has anyone else encountered this before or have an idea of what could be causing? Wow, need to "pop the top" to get to it! 1. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 2. REMOVE NO. 3 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT 3. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY (a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw. (b) Disconnect the connector and remove the turn signal flasher assembly. 1. INSPECT TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY (a) Disconnect the L55 turn signal flasher assembly connector. (b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below: (c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below: If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the wire harness or connector. (d) Reconnect the L55 turn signal flasher assembly connector. (e) Measure the voltage according to the valve(s) in the table below. If the result is not as specified, the turn signal flasher assembly may have a malfunction.
The top popping is tedious. I've done it twice now, once on my car and once at a U-pick. The second time was more bearable as I didn't have to put it back. Before I started with that, I would grab Techstream and sit back in the seat and see what it shows me in the data list for the state of the hazard switch, or what it does in the active test when I tell it to blink the hazards. That would quite possibly narrow the possible suspects down faster than getting the top dash off. -Chap
That was my first call but now I just believe that new users won’t bother with techstream and want their way right into the part that needs troubleshooting.
... as long as they think they know which part that is, before doing any troubleshooting. It can just be frustrating to do that much work and then be surprised to discover how many other parts of a circuit there are. -Chap
So the problem was the relay flasher, I went in from the bottom and left the old flasher in place so it was not a tough job at all, I dont know about you guys but it doesnt bother me at all Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
