I have a 2012 Four with 118,000 miles on it. Love the car, but wanting something bigger, quieter, and a little more luxurious. I live in a big city with major traffic. Tired of getting cut off. People just love to whip around me and I do NOT drive slow. So, I can wait and buy the 2019 Pruis or get a gas sucking SUV. I can't image buying gas every week, and twice as much! Has anyone else gone thru this and regretted it? Thoughts?
my wife has a hycam. i hate driving that behemoth except to florida and back. very comfortable. in a city? i wouldn't want an suv. rav4h maybe.
regrets? ~ yes. The regret tho - is not the fault of the Prius. The Prius is wonderful for what it is. The regret here, is that Toyota chose to push the way less efficient fool cel tech over plugins. Yes, they're finally - if not reluctantly planning to produce their own EV .... not a glider, where another company installs the guts ... nor another shopping cart sized/low range thing. They've already been there - done that. The regret is that the other manufacturers were doing their plugin things - & Toyota has only recently dipped their big toe unto the mix. For years, Toyota defended their policy by claiming that "no one wants them" .... even going so far as to run negative ads against a long range plugin. That thinking seemed to be indefensible - once the model 3 waitlist lines - went around the block - just so folk could lay down $1,000's for the privilege of getting an early one. Indefensible - once sales of competitors were taken away, as easily as the school bully grabbing other kid's sandwiches. So now? It's regrettable that Lexus/Toyota (et al) have to play catch up - rather than the others having to catch up to toyota/Lexus. .
Agree. To a certain extent. I'm considering selling mine already. Or just give it to a family member. Don't know if I will regret it. Most days I wish I had a nice comfortable SUV. I'm just too big for a Prius. (But that's not the car's fault.) On a long trip, I'd much prefer a larger (and quieter!) vehicle. Life is too short. Comfort, safety, utility, and peace-of-mind win out. I don't mind buying gas for an SUV. I will never be a "fanatic" to only one type of vehicle, or only one brand. That's pretty crazy.
back to topic hen: i don't regret selling my '04, to my daughter i don't regret selling my '08, to my daughter i might regret selling my '12, that's why i still have it
not at all. as much as i would love 30 miles of range and electric heat pump, i was really disappointed with the hatch space. i fill it up a lot. but i'm already at 85% ev, sot it is hard to pull the trigger for another 10k. i only have 60,000 on her.
at 6'-5" i feel your pain. We just pulled the trigger on a new phev .... over 30 EV miles .... with CS mode above 30mpg, self park, lane assist, adaptive CC & a hatch/cargo area big enough to stowe sheets of plywood or drywall - as well as my giant 6'-5" frame. and a heat pump .... & heated steering wheel, & cooled/heated ventelated leather, lumbar/7-way adj seating No regrets. Any guesses? .
We have a winnahh ! Dumped the 1st year Leaf .... VIN ....000659 will NEVER regret that Will be adding my famous "Priuschat.Com" stickers as soon as i finish the chores .
