I find my auto correct on my tablet changing what I type all the time, I go back and correct it and then it does it again. When I am on my PC I have no excuse, I didn't like English but had a good looking English teacher. I have been looking for a place to use this.
I need to go back to one of my other forums where the uneducated people hide. Is there an English forum. I don't hunt and peck I know how to type. I could type fast but mistakes were (are) still my big problem. There is a difference between a misspelled word and a mistyped one.
What about rouge instead of rogue? One is a reddish color and the other is something else. Also, I seem to have this bad habit of typoing when trying to clarify somebody else's typoes
"goverment" vs "government"? I think this one is a case where "living" language will eventually (ahem) govern. Myself I pronounce it like the former. To say "government" I have to slow down, like going over a mental speed-bump. It's weird: I had to go back and edit the heck out the above, change "latter" to "former", and the last "goverment" to "government". First draft, I consistently typed the opposite of what I meant.
Our gallooon? There's been pretty much zero official use of imperial gallons, since what, the '70's? But car dealerships keep it alive: love to quote miles per (imperial) gallon (and typically just the highway portion), especially for the CUV's and land boats.
