I just paid $4300 for an '07 with 130k, clean title and Carfax. Minor cosmetic issues and needed tires.
Yes, I'm no master mechanic, but I can hold my own. '63 VW Doublecab (restored in mid 90's) '68 GMC 3/4 ton 4wd (snowplow and woodcutting truck) 2 x '88 Civic Wagon RT4WD (snow cars) '88 CRX (my DD) '06 Matrix 4wd (wife's snow car) '07 Prius (wife's DD) What I save in car payments allows me to pay my mechanic for the stuff I don't want to do.
The 88 crx, what a nice car. Can't see many of those around anymore. There were tons of them back when the high school/college kids drove them
Wow looking at how these things are currently priced, i have to admit i got a real steal getting one of my employers priuses they were getting rid of, 07 with 66,000 miles for $1K, ($1150,w/auction co fee).
HOUSTON, TX: Bought a 2007 Prius, 2G, ,68K miles, Salvage Title in August, 2018. Paid $7,200. I know, what am I doing? ( wife liked no cigarette smell , leather seats , oustrong A/C) SALVAGE= ]]pay x1.5 in monthly insurance premiums. Anyhow, hybrid battery problems made us return it to their mechanic three times in first 5 months. They swapped out individuaI battery cells. I personally replaced the 12volt battery. After the third battery cell swap, the Prius has been steady as daily driver. YMMV
