Changed the ATF in the wife's newly acquired '07. From the Carfax, it appears to have been the first time. Here's a pic of the old fluid compared to the new. There was nothing noticeable on the drain plug. Here's what was left in the catch pan. I'm not too displeased.
I changed my 2005 when I bought it with 170k miles. I think it looked darker than your sample. But it seems to drive really nicely before and after. Maybe this stuff is really a lifetime fluid?.....jk
I know for the Gen3’s I've seen up here with that mileage and the fluid never changed has been darker, almost motor oil like. So maybe yours has been changed once.
I would say it is likely that the ATF definitely had been changed previously, and not that long ago. I would expect substantial ferrous metal powder accumulated on the drain plug magnet after 30K miles.
It's possible that the ATF had been changed at some point. It must have been done before it was purchased by the previous owner at 109 k. She had it serviced regularly (every 5k) at the same shop, all of which are logged on the Carfax. Prior to that, there are some gaps in the service record, so it may have been done by a shop that did not report it. I feel better knowing that it has probably been done before, as that indicates that other aspects of maintenance have probably not been neglected.
Mine was way darker than that. Almost no metal on the drain plug magnet though. I was surprised about that
Thats newer fluid. looks like the fluid after bought new and 10,000 miles in. But nerver hurts to put fresh fluid in. Good news is that should do it for the life of the car. Once you get all the initial run in out of there the trans is very easy on the the oil. Basically its just a gear/chain lubricant.
