Hi all I’m from the uk I was wondering what you would recommend as a reader for the Prius I noticed on here someone used it to monitor the batteries and downloaded an app called dr Prius Can anyone point me in the right direction I’m from the uk so something what would work with the uk please
Depends on what you plan on doing. I use mini veepeak with paid torque pro app. For me I check hv batteries, scan codes, clear/ reset codes etc. If your looking for something more accurate in diagnosing problems at precise locations, I would invest in techstream . There are a few different apps that can give you different information, Dr. Prius is one, hybrid assistant, gives information, but less about the battery. And torque can give information. They can all be useful in their own ways. I would say doctor Prius gives more useful information about the battery. But torque can do that too, you need to download the appropriate data set for torque to talk to the Prius Beyond just basic OBD2. And for all of those you will need a Bluetooth OBD2 connector and either a Android phone or iOS although I don't think torque works with iOS. So you could use an old Android tablet or an old Android cell phone pick one up cheap. Techstream of course can dive much deeper into the car, and you can find copies of that out on the internet and you can order a OBD2 to USB dongle off Amazon to talk to the laptop. I will tell you that the pirates version of TechStream that you can find on the internet or order off Amazon can be a bit finicky to get set up. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Basically the local Toyota dealership do as part of there service a battery health check but it’s ratgwr expensive so i thought I could have a look myself to see how it’s doing if that’s possible not wanting something really in-depth but sounds like I need the doctor Prius and a reader for it what reader do I need does anyone have a link I have an iOS phone
Has something changed in the UK? The HHC (hybrid health check) was free with any service, or £50 if you did a standalone HHC without a service.
No it’s free with the service but the service is nearly £100 more than any others so I thought if I could see it myself would be better
As far as I am aware they don’t extend it what do you recommend as a reader for the Prius to use with dr Prius
Maybe 2nd gen's are too old for warranty extension? Here's some info anyway, and they do mention warranty extension, at the bottom: Toyota Hybrid Health Check - Toyota
i don't have one, but if you search doc prius, there should be some recommendations. also, try their website or customer support.
Interesting, Carista is one of the ones recommended on the Dr Prius website. The Carista adapter is plugged into the OBD-II (DLC3) port in your car. You then connect your device by bluetooth to the adapter. The ODB-II is behind the lower dash to the left of the steering wheel column. Here's a picture (or 2):
Thank you all for your help here are the results I need to do a life expectancy on it. Not too sure what all these numbers mean
Warranty limitations aside, you could still get the dealership to do the assessment. Perhaps in conjunction with an oil change they'd lower the charge. Just a thought.
I asked them but the charge was high that’s why I thought of trying this but I’m still needing to do another test on the reader
