A couple of hobos on a Seattle street corner begging for cash offered to fix the minor dings and paint my car a couple of years ago for $200, plus materials. I almost took them up on it. Both of them claimed to be experienced body shop workers. The price you have quoted seems great -- just depends on the rep of the shop.
I suggest you look at other vehicles painted by that shop for that price and see if you feel the quality is acceptable. I paid around that amount to repaint the hood, front bumper and rear spoiler of the 2007, last year.
I am super picky about paint. The $1k paint specials look hideous to me. If you're doing the exact same colour as factory, then maybe you can get away with it because things will be already the right colour where they won't get.
