Just moved to Portland (Tigard) from the San Francisco area and I’ve got a three-car garage for meetups. I hosted several in California before moving and it would be a lot of fun to meet some local Prius owners and keep our cars running forever.
Thanks! Nobody’s answered yet... but it took a few months for the SF Bay meetups to start going back when I started them up a few years ago. We’ve done so much car work since then... oil changes, transmission oil changes, lots of EGR cleanings, PCV’s, filters, engine cleaning, and coolant changes, just to name a few. I’m sure we’ll get some Prius maintenance meetups started by summer.
If you consider Colorado near Portland, possibly. Then the rural areas of Oregon might be a bit out there too. I believe @The Electric Me is close by.
I am in the Coast Range west of Eugene (Monroe if you want to get really specific). But I am recovering from a horrific accident five months ago and am challenged to be in a car for more than 20 minutes pain-wise, not to mention "terror-wise" Wish all well, but not up to any sort of meets for at least another several months unless you want a shrunken crone with her one-year-old and her two golden retrivers.... Plus, I am pretty Old School with my '08 -- and whoops, not getting rid of the '08, but am getting ready to buy an Outback -- need safety for the little one. kris
Nothing wrong with the 2008!!! And I think you will love the Outback. You may even figure out how to work the infotainment center, which has me baffled. I think the 2008 is the best car we ever had.
I’m really sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you heal soon. I expect it will be a few months until we’re ready to meet. Do you have any work in mind for your 08?
No real work on the Prius Planned. An oil change is coming up LOL! But I think I will ask my husband to do it and make him miserable, as even with the Fumoto attachment, I am not up to that simple chore. The Prius is one of the least needy vehicles I have ever owned.
Too bad I no longer own a Prius. Plus, despite my participation in Prius Chat, I'm generally anti-social, not well adjusted, and misanthropic. Which only makes me fun at parties thrown on full moons. But as a life long Oregonian, I can say in general, we are tired of Californians moving to Oregon looking for real estate/cost of living bargains, and driving the cost of everything up. If you INSIST on becoming a California transplant Oregonian? Try to avoid the cliches. Don't go to Blazer games and root for The Warriors, The Clippers, or The Lakers. You've picked a nice time to arrive in Oregon. But be prepared for the Fall/Winter rainy season. Constant cloud cover, incessant rain fall, it's perfect for a misanthrope like me. Welcome.....I think........
Im not an Oregonian or a Californian, I’m a person. A social one: I invite people into my home so I can help them keep their cars running. If a Warriors fan comes to a Blazers game, you thank them for buying a ticket which pays Blazers’ salaries. They’re helping your team, so... cool!
No, sorry, if you lived as a registered resident in San Francisco California, you were a Californian. If you move to Oregon, you will be an Oregonian. I'm assuming through it all, you've been and will continue being a person. And I've been a Blazer fan, in Oregon, since I was a kid. I'm not thanking transplant Californians for buying tickets to BLAZER games, so they can come and root on the Blazers home court for The Warriors. -Not gunna happen. I can't stop it from happening, but I don't have to like it. Individual ticket sales are actually a minimal amount of the income of an NBA franchise. The Blazers sell out their games, Californians or not. Listen this is a free country. You're free to move from California to Oregon. But I do believe it's a fair and true statement to say that a LOT of Californians have moved to Oregon for a perceived advantage in Cost of living, Real Estate Prices, and I like to believe quality of life. All I think I can take liberty in believing? Is that it would be nice if these transplanted Californians realized that the home team is now The Blazers. Welcome to Oregon.
Why? Were you considering moving to Oregon? That is not what @Raytheeagle means by the best (sic) coast. He keeps misspelling WEST !
