Will a complete Gen 2 battery work in an 02, are the electric connections compatible? Is it a simple R&R ?
No... Gen 2 HV batteries have only 28 modules. Gen 1 has 38 modules, The gen 1 case is significantly different. The cooling fan and ductwork arrangement is significantly different. No...............electrical connections are not compatible.......... Some people have installed 38 Gen 2 modules into a Gen 1 case. The gen 2 modules are just slightly longer, but still fit in the case.
That is good info. The higher voltage won’t create an issue? This car has 425 k mi. And I would like to save it since no other issues are present. Thanks
The Gen 1, 2 and 3 modules have identical ratings (voltage and capacity). Gen 2 and 3 are physically/dimensionally identical. The Gen 1 is the same width as the Gen 2 and 3, so a stack of 38 modules, regardless of Generation, will fit perfectly in your Gen 1 clamp. The only difference is the Gen 2/3 modules are slightly longer, but the underside mounting bolt holes will still match up. The Gen 2 and 3 use only one underside mount bolt per module instead of 2.
I miss my 67 vette but it had no ac so couldn’t drive it but a few months a year and even then it sucked Never knew the cabin got so hot till I bought one
I had a 67 in 69. 427/390 with no options. Remember that AC was a luxury then and never cared that much about it. It was my only car then and just sucked it up. Now , I’m not climbing into if temp is north on 80
I bought my 67 from a guy who had just installed a rebuilt 350 in it. He couldn't figure out why it would keep over heating. It would be ok on the highway but as soon as you stopped at a light the temp gauge would spike. I thought the motor was blown and his priced reflected that. It made it home though and I started looking at it. He had the fan blade on backwards. It was blowing instead of sucking. It was a joyous moment when I figured it out. When I would stand over the rad with motor running I was getting wind in my face...that's not right.....lol.
