When turning my 2012 Prius v 5 on, and immediately putting the car in reverse, on the backup screen it says “audio on” or “audio on” at the top blocking part of the screen for a few seconds. Anyone know how to turn this “audio on” or “audio off” feature off? I don’t need to see that for several seconds after turning the car on.
Qualifier...I have a 2015-4 with the top end factory HU and found no settings to address this. Either wait "the few seconds" for the HU/Map to finish booting up before shifting...or learn to live with it.
i turn the audio on, then put it in reverse, then wait for the view. it takes a few seconds for the view to come on regardless, so it doesn't change my approach.
I turn the car on, put the car in reverse, then try to determine if I can see enough or not with the backup cam bc the critical top of it is blocked by “audio off” or “audio on” for several seconds. It’s annoying bc I’m ready to drive. Maybe in more recent versions it blocks less or is visible for less time; I have a 2012. I don’t need to know if the radio is on or off if the backup camera is on.
i noticed on my dil's murano, the cam came on as soon as the selector hit reverse. not sure why toyota can't get this right
I went into settings and found a 2.2.0. I’m not sure if that was the head unit but it was like the software or firmware version I found in settings.
Current is 5.2.0, FWIW, but I wouldn't assume that makes any difference. When we have (rarely) seen any audio message indications at all it has been just for an instant when changing sources, say from BT to USB to AM/FM/SAT.
What year is your v? You really do t see any “audio” message on the top of your backup display for like 5 seconds if you turn on your car and immediately don’t go into reverse? I’m ok got ask about a firmware update next time i’m At the dealership. Does everyone have a 5.2.0?
Same as yours, as indicated in my signature. 2012 v Five. Have never seen any audio indication on the display, with or without shifting, forward or reverse.
Well, I finally got the software updated and convinced the dealer to do it for free. I didn’t notice any benefits to it but it did make a few things worse. My iPhone for Waze and google maps audio no longer would come through the car’s speaker via Bluetooth. I was able to fix those by finding a setting in each app that said something like play audio as a Bluetooth phone call. Other apps and functions on my iPhone which played previously out of the iPhones speaker were also no longer listenable. (I think the new update forces Bluetooth for everything so nothing can be heard unless I switch the radio input to Bluetooth. The google and Waze app fix allows the audio to be heard if the car’s audio source isn’t Bluetooth, by making the audio like an incoming call. ) The one thing I was trying to fix with the software upgrade is the super annoying banner that appears across the backup cam when I first go to reverse. The banner says something like “audio off” or “audio source” and it appears for a few seconds on the top row of the screen, blocking my view of what’s behind me and making me wait for it to go away. When I turn the car on go into reverse, I want to be able to go, not wait for the banner to go away. Oh well. The update didn’t fix it. 2012 Prius v.
