My hybrid battery keeps on charging but sometimes it does not show that it is being charged as no bars are added in the battery bar and the car wont switch to EV mode but when you switch off the engine and turn it on again it shows charged and battery bars have also increased and car is in EV mode. If any one can help me with that?
So battery replacement? The battery is not even used upto 100k kms. Till now it is 82000 kms. Why so early?
I have checked the voltage of each cell and the voltages are good. The connections are also ok. No rust and corrosion. Battery fan also cleaned
82000kms And also it is giving the It gives me the code P0a80 Replace hybrid battery The lights on dash are Check engine Hybrid triangle Slip indicator Yellow color brake indicator checked the battery, cleaned its connections and voltage too is good. Fan is clean. Still getting the code.
If you have that code on, then that battery has issues. Get an old laptop, and download techstream software, to read the hybrid battery individual voltages real-time. If you don't have any of those, get a hybrid capable blue tooth code reader. Did you load tests the modules when you opened the battery?
Well I did load them when I was using OBD II scanner by switching on my AC and the voltage difference was about 1 Volt. However, I did not put load on it when I opened the battery.
Well, that won't give you the vital info needed on that battery. There's something definitely triggering the replace hybrid pack code
load test will show you the bad cells on tech stream. or you can try dr prius or hybrid assistant apps. any corrosion inside the case or connecting wires?
Corrosion is dealt with. In a day or two I will get my techstream along with the cable and will do the testing. How to do load test on techstream? Is it done by loading the battery by turning AC Lights etc or is there any other way?
Do you see any large areas of discoloration or the steel baseplate at the bottoms of the battery modules? What about the area in the plenum under the modules? If you do, you have a module leaking. A leaking module will still act like a good module in regard to voltage and current capability. Not so good when it comes to HV insulation resistance.
But I think if there's a leaking module down or under the plate, I'd expect an isolation high voltage code to pop up? Its the replaced battery pack code that's on
You can load test the modules when they are out of the casing, using car bulb, and a timer. Read up about hybrid battery rebuilding on the platform here. Use the search icon to navigate through em. You got to spend more to e reading there though
The Dr. Prius app does a load test of sorts that gives you the expected remaining life in the battery. No need to access the battery directly. You do it from the driver's seat. The basic app is free, but the module for the remaining life test costs $8.99. Check their site to see if your OBDII module is compatible. ( priusapp.com ) The one I used cost about $10.00 at Amazon. The test takes a little more than 15 minutes while you add load with the AC, lights, etc. keeping the drain within a certain range by watching the display on your phone. By the way, isn't your battery still under warranty?
