Tire pressure light, intermittent cruise

    So I am experiencing two issues, not sure they are related, I searched but did not find another thread that helped.

    2008, 142K mi, Hybrid drive batteries replaced at dealer about 16 months ago along with 12V battery. Replaced aux water pump last year.

    Tire pressure light has been on for several months, it did start after I bought new tires. Tire shop reset the TPS several times but I have the 1 min flash then on solid.

    Intermittent cruise, appears to be happening more frequently. It used to happen when I lost traction over washboard bumps on gravel roads, now it seems to happen even when driving on the blacktop. I suspect that it has to do with the traction control. I also have issues while breaking where a bumpy surface kicks off the ABS and braking function lets go until traction is re-established.

    I have checked the ABS cables at the wheels and all seem solid.

    I do not have a code reader so not sure what code(s) maybe present.

    Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

    I don't see how they would be related. Tire pressure light is probably just a battery unless they replaced them with the new tires. Or you actually have a low tire.

    The ABS acting up on bumpy surfaces is a "feature" of the Gen 2. It's a little aggressive in that regard.

    The intermittent cruise could be related to the ABS if you have a tire speed sensor that's acting up. Maybe a bad wire, failing sensor, out of position, sensor or something like that. A code reader may or may not help you narrow it down.

    First, make sure that you still have the sensor valve stems in place. The tire shop may have lost yours.......accidentally.
    If one or more of the sensors has gone bad.......you probably won't like the cost of a replacement, from Toyota that is.

    Intermittent loss of cruise control is sometimes caused by the brake light switch.

    TPMS start going bad around the 10-year mark somethines earlier. Many many threads.

    do the other steering wheel buttons work with the wheel in all positions?

    make sure there is movement in the inverter fluid reservoir with the car 'ready'

    Replaced the 12V when the hybrid drive batteries were replaced

    "Feature" makes me smile

    I may have to road trip to the parts store to have then read the codes

    Sensor valve stems = steel threaded stems? If so it appears I have all 4

    Already ordering a new brake switch under the throw parts at it category. probably a routine maintenance item at this point

    Everything but the cruise works as it should.

    Yes I have fluid movement, replaced the water pump in that system just last year

    cruise can be affected by the clock spring or the inverter pump, iirc

    I will check the connections on the inverter ump to make sure they are all still tight.

    Clock spring? Is that like a set of vapor locks? you guys wouldn't pull my leg would ya?

    Ok you guys aren't kidding

    Ouch on the price, anything to try and verify before I pony up $230? Everything else on the steering wheel is working

    it's poly fine then. make sure you rotate the wheel all the way left and right as you try it.

    maybe it's just a cruise control system problem.

    You can see if your TPMS sensors are working if you have techstream. It shows the pressures and temperature of each tire. If one says 0 you know it’s dead

    I put 300 miles on today and I don't think it's the clock spring. I really tried to make any of the other steering wheel buttons malfunction. Fortunately they didn't

    Can anyone tell me more about the cruise system? Toyota clearly designed it differently than my Landcruiser
