Cabin air filter was jammed in

    I just bought a 2010 Prius Five and went to install a new cabin air filter. I found that the old air filter was carelessly jammed in and basically half crushed, so it wasn't covering the whole air intake (only about half of it).

    It wasn't insanely dirty, but there were a few leaves on it and quite a bit of dirt/dust.

    So what kind of damage may have been done by this? How would it be fixed?

    There is no damage done. Just put in a new filter.

    Not having a filter is the same as breathing fresh air. The filter would filter out things like.....leaves

    when i tried a fram filter, that's exactly what would happen every time i tried to slide it in.

    it's been oem ever since

    Same as what happened to HVAC system of every vehicle back before cabin filters were a thing.
