Prius perseveres. Tesla and Tesla products are great. And I think they certainly have the mantle of "coolest" alternative vehicle you can own. But it's still not a mainstream accessible product,-at least not for most of us. I'm still clapping for Prius.

probably, i'm not sure. they were popular here in the early 2,000's and when i bought my '04. but idk the numbers. cali usually has the best incentives, and they keep raising the bar.

Yes, and that's what I mean when I say Tesla has become the coolest alternative vehicle you can own. It's that panache. But it's a been a long time since Prius had that mantle. And it's been discussed before, but you can't hold on to that forever. To an great extent, Prius is a victim of it's own great multiple decades success. You can't be the "new" unique thing forever. Credit Prius's success, with making it NOT the "Hey Look at what I'm Driving" vehicle.
there are tons of them around here, but mostly in affluent area's, compared to prius. but gen4 is still quiet. but looking at sales numbers, toyota overall hybrid numbers aren't bad, and through in the rest of the completion, and i wouldn't say tesla is the new green symbol, but is one contributing factor to market completion for that prize

The Prius was mostly affluent areas in the day when MSRP was the best deal you could get. The less affluent buying new were getting discounts on Camries and Corollas. The total cost conscious were getting Yarii. Keep in mind that Model 3 deliveries have only been going on for two years. It will trickle out like the Prius has. The Prius is a victim of hybrid success. Most don't want a car that stands out in general. So with more hybrid, and other efficient options, people that want that in a car no longer feel they need to be forced into a Prius. Tesla has performance and the luxury status that attracts buyers beyond the green and security crowd.
