I have a Gen 3 Prius I'm trying to get running again. It needs a new engine block at minimum, and I'm thinking of a junkyard engine to replace the factory motor, hopefully without creating computer problems or other compatibility issues. But, I can't find a donor Prius near Kansas City. Does anyone know which car years and models would work without too much trouble. I know there was a Lexus, a Corolla (maybe hybrid). Would the 1.8 from a Corolla work in general?
2010-15 liftback, and i think there's a thread here where someone stuffed a gen 4 in. did you try LKQ?
car-part.com....national "used auto parts" website...I see lots of Prius engines including a 2015 with 86k miles for $1250 that is in Springfield.
Yeah, quite a saga: Swapping in a Gen 4 Prius' 2ZR Engine into the Prius v | PriusChat The thread's pinned in sort of an odd location; it's a Prius v he's doing the 4th gen transplant into, but it it is the same process for 3rd gen Prius. Note too, there's someone else who did the same transplant, but managed even more complete, transferred the complete 4th gen EGR system over as well. The major mod he needed to do was heat up and bend the (3rd gen) exhaust manifold pipe that connects to the EGR cooler, to make the connection. I believe he contributed to the above thread?
There is also Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market . That is where I located the 2016 engine that I short block installed in my 2010.
