I've never had this Prius owner's problem with the Dynamic Radar Cruise control. (not sure he has a Prime) Think he needs to have it checked out. [ Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I’m not sure how the radar works per se, but if it’s pointed then it almost seems like it needs adjusting. It’s catching the vehicle in the right lane which is too far over IMO. iPhone ?
Yeah, his forward-facing camera needs calibration. It must be seeing the car in the right of it rather than directly in front of it. I've never had a problem like his. And the car looks to be PRIME Plus model
I seriously doubt that the radar beam is directional enough to be able to resolve lanes. That would require either a large radar antenna or an antenna array, and I believe all gen4 Prius models use a single small radar antenna. More likely the vehicle uses the forward optical sensor to determine if a vehicle is directly ahead and then uses the radar to determine vehicle's relative speed.
TOYOTA's DRCC uses forward-facing camera and radar together not radar alone. His problem must be a misalignment of the forward-facing camera which is on the top of the windshield.
And he needs to orient his phone so it doesn't feel like we're looking through a vertical slot in a fence.
Is the radar behind the Toyota emblem and the camera in the windshield? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
