I read on another forum that the fit and finish as well as overall build quality of the Primes is superior to the standard non plug in Prius. Is this true? I was under the impression that they were essentially the same aside from the obvious differences.
i don't recall reading that here. and my looks at both vehicles didn't reveal anything obvious. are you sure they didn't say tesla?
I don't recall reading anything about that. There's a few nicer features but they come from the same factory and are the same vehicle. It's possible the extra sound insulation makes it feel like a more premium vehicle and thus give the impression that it's better built?
Than some of the trim levels of the regular Prius, yes. The base LE/Two had less firewall sound insulation than other Prii trim levels. The Four/Four Touring/Limited have "front door window acoustic glass" (aka double paned driver and front passenger windows). The Prime has the acoustic front door glass as standard equipment. I don't know if it's the 17" alloys on the Touring but I found my Prime to be quieter than our 2016 Touring model.
