Our 2007 Prius is still chugging along (230k miles) and we've been considering upgrading to a new Prime for a few months now given the various incentives. The only reason we've held off is because the old Prius is still going barring the dents, rust, failed AC, burning oil, and somehow leaking/evaporating inverter coolant. Over the past 3 months, for zipcode 14424 in Western NY, customer cash on a 2020 Prime has been: Oct: $1,500 Nov: $3,000 December: $3,000 This amount of customer cash is really enticing, given it's 10% of the MSRP for a XLE and we'd hate to miss out on it, but at the same time we don't NEED to buy right now, by any stretch of the imagination. So, long winded intro to my questions: Is there any historical data available somewhere for local customer cash incentives? Is there anything predictive in relation to local customer cash incentives? Are Toyota incentives (ex. customer cash) generally higher at the end of the calendar year? Thank you!
I think the federal tax credit expires this year. So you may want to consider that depending on your tax status.
Toyota is not losing the the federal tax credit. I don't know of any historical tracking of incentives to help predict them, but they generally go up at the end of the year in order to move out any old inventory. Also, Toyota tends to be more generous in the Northeast for the Prime, because state incentives aren't as generous as in California and Colorado. That said, the 2020 Prime got a middle rear seat, which should help sales. If you don't need that, and can find a 2019, you might get some additional discounts.
toyota built too many primes on the first run, resulting inrebates discounts upwards of $10,000. with the refresh, inventory has been running behind, and they likely have a better handle on demand, so i would be surprised to see the rebate get much better. but it also depends on how many land barges they sell in cali.
Actually for in the entire country for CAFE. They are praying to get close to GM and FCA sales of such.
