I want to get a software so I can plug it in to the 2007. I got a laptop with windows 7/64 bit. what are the things I need to get so I can diagnose the car. Never done this before. Thanks,
You need to get the cable and software. There’s a few links listed on this thread. I myself have a cheap knockoff cable and have yet to see it not work on a function of techstream. But I also have a legitimate one has well that I paid more money for which I use more often. Someone mentioned not to have the internet connected when installing or using techstream that it will cause it to have problems or something. That’s not the case with any of the versions you Download or buy from eBay Or Amazon. personally I prefer using Windows XP as that’s what’s recommended for techstream originally (other windows work now too) but I like the simplicity of windows xp
Someone mentioned not to have the internet connected when installing or using techstream that it will cause it to have problems or something. That’s not the case with any of the versions you Download or buy from eBay Or Amazon. This is a pretty bold statement unless you've purchased every one that's available and tested it. I can guarantee you, if I run my techstream (purchased on ebay) with wifi enabled and connected to the internet, it will pop up an update screen and will NOT let you opt out of it, thereby locking the program. I've seen it happen to other members when I was there to work on their car and they showed me what was happening when they tried to run techstream on their car. The only way to get it to not happen is to have no internet with all wifi disconnected. It solves the problem every time.
I can’t say I used “every” version but I have been using techstream for years. Sorry yours doesn’t work with internet enabled etc. for me it’s important for several reasons. One being when programming key fobs etc. but I’ve never had the issue you are talking about. Never been told to have internet off either. It’s always been a software crack of some kind.
Ditto. Got my first version from Amazon and that's just what happened to me. Had to reinstall from scratch. Not sure if I HAD to reinstall XP, but I did it anyway to be sure I got it on the first try and didn't have something lurking in the registry.
Hi there and thank you for the reply. Pretty much I fixed all of the stuffs I need to cover the 120K mile (hopefully) This is something that I haven't done before Im just new to hybrid. There is nothing wrong with the car. I just want to be ready when the time comes I need to change the hybrid battery or something that related that I can use this instrument, hopefully I have a good start up. Is this one good enough to start with for a 2007 prius windows 7 laptop? Thanks, Joe MINI-VCI J2534 OBDII USB Cable Diagnostic Scanner For Toyota Lexus TIS Code Scan | eBay
