Hi guys, greetings from Germany. Since buying my 09 Gen3 in August 2017 I noticed that water would collect in the battery well during winter. I initially thought that it was the result of water running off the trunk lid when lifting it too quickly. But I wasn't entirely convinced. I removed the lining covering the right rear of trunk. Lo and behold I discovered that the two 10mm nuts retaining the tail light were loose. My initial reaction was to just tighten them. Curiosity got the better of me and I removed the tail light, revealing the crud that had accumulated over the years. I cleaned everything up and the well now remains bone dry regardless of how much precip has occurred. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Ostwestfalen-Lippe - I had to look it up on Wikipedia for my geography lesson of the day. Maybe one of these days I'll make a point to travel there.
I put an aftermarket tail light in Mom's Gen 2 and noticed that the fit was not quite perfect. We left some paper towels in place to indicate any leaks. Maybe yours had some work done since the factory? It's obviously in good hands now!
