Original owner of 2008 prius with 103k. While not my dream car it has been best car I have owned for efficiency and reliability. The problem is now I only get 250 miles to full tank? Did some reading and seems battery is losing it life. Energy monitor still shows battery green at times. Not sure its worth replacing. All suggestions helpful.
Welcome. Miles per tank is irrelevant. How many miles per gallon? Full bars on the battery at times is OK. But if it's up and down like a yo-yo, then it would seem that the battery is getting out of balance and losing capacity. That will hurt gas mileage. Here's a nice little article on testing the battery using Techstream. Predictive battery failure analysis for the Prius Hybrid The voltage between battery blocks shouldn't be more than 1.2V, but that's not the only factor. Internal resistance also plays a role. And sometimes the battery istelf is OK, but the sensor wires are compromised. Techstream is the most complete diagnostic tool and it's what Toyota uses. There are other cheaper and more specialized options such as the Dr. Prius phone app.
If that's what you valued the most, it's time to move on. These cars are great at it, but nothing is forever.
The 12V battery is another item to check once you have figured out the mpg vs. miles per tank issue. iPhone ?
