Rear view mirror housing modification?

    Hello - I'm a new 2019 Prius LE owner and new to this site. Not new to Prius though, I just gave my 2011 P-2 to my son. I can't help but make comparisons between the two cars, likes and dislikes. One thing I hadn't noticed was the large plastic housing under the rear view mirror, which I find visually distracting. You can look inside of it and see that it's there to house electronics I'd assume for an optional mirror. However, since I don't have that option, can that big piece of plastic be removed without damaging anything?

    No because it houses the front camera for the safety systems and stuff.

    There's a camera and a sensor in there - I wouldn't touch it.
