Who watched their Prime get tinted?

I watched mine being tinted. The door panels weren’t removed.

 

Nope, everything remained intact and looks great.

 

When mine were done, the door panels were not removed.

If they ask to do that, I'd go the other way as they don't have the experience or skills required .

But getting the tint done helps with heat rejection, so find a quality guy.

 

No door panels removed here either on the Prime or the other 5 times on other vehicles.

 

Is there a problem with removing the door panels on the prime? The concern you mention seems oddly specific. I've never gotten a car tinted, but I plan to with my new prime. Sounds like this could be useful advice, though I was just wondering why it's something to avoid.

 

There's no reason to.

And sometimes when un necessary things are removed, improper fitment results.

And it also adds more time to the job, without gaining any additional access.

But find a reputable installer and all these things are not needed to be worried about.

 

Agreed but I come from a much different background: In south Texas, tint is considered mandatory (car dealers LOVE it) and I've had windows tinted and/or DIY (auto/home) since the 80's, sat at shops watching their operations while waiting on mine, etc., and have never seen or heard of this concern till now.

So my question is WHY remove panels?

 

So they can get to the glass that's below the weather strip? I don't see the problem with removing the door panels. Maybe I'm missing something here, since I've never had my windows tinted.

 

they simply cut the tint a touch long and tuck it down bellow the weather stripping. no one does more work then they have too, and in this case thats a good thing
