Auto CD players are dinosaurs! You tend to not get a CD Player as this is the trend. I think also, not even a AUX port to plug in a portable CD!! So what are the solutions if you have audio books on CD...lets say you want the CD option? Guess you can get one of these gizmos and transmit to the Bleutooth? Somebody apparently got a patent on the USB plug idea, that emulates iPhone, so we gotta wait 17 years or pay $500 for a high end CD deck with it...not sure. Absolutely. Lots of free CD ripping software around if you are interested. It's very easy to do. We have close to 180 CD's that I've ripped to high quality variable bit rate MP3's that sound just as good as the CD and they don't get scratched. Put them on your phone, USB stick, MP3 player, or all the above and take them and play them anywhere. You can embed the lyrics, album art, etc.
Media Player will do it but it's not as good or flexible as a 3rd party programs using LAME that gives you output options like lossless FLAC or variable rate MP3's
Strikes me I have a lot of ripped material that I have not been using because my current CD players do not handle it well. But I can dump that stuff on a stick.
That is what I eventually did, but Media Player is there for those not wanting to get into downloading something else.
Yes, it works. I went with the others to get the Variable Bit Rate MP3's. I like the variable bit rate MP3's because I get the maximum sound fidelity with some file compression to save space. Now that space is no big deal, the lossless FLAC's are good but they can get very large. Example: Elton John - Tiny Dancer is 6:17 minutes (long) but the FLAC is 132 MB. The MP3 of it from the same source using LAME 3.99r is 11.9 MB @ 264 kbps 48 kHz, 83% compressed with VERY high (Lossy) VBR -V 0 (Extreme) setting. I'm extremely hard pressed to tell any different between the two with very good over the ear headphones. Another big reason I create my own is clipping. Clipping is done to increase the loudness of a song by cutting off the extreme highs and lows of a song. Many cheap MP3's you purchase have had this done to the original music. You can definitely hear the difference if you compare to the original. You can use "Audacity" to see if your songs are clipped. I've spent a couple of decades getting my music library "just right" and I've learned a lot along the way. No streaming or 128 kbps for me.
So I got the gizmo in the OP (Post#1) Taotronics TT-BA07 Wireless 2-in-1 adapter (bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver) for about $25 bucks on Amazon. That works to plug into your portable CD player earphone jack. Then you gotta pair up with the RAV4 Bluetooth. I had a little trouble pairing up, but that might be not knowing the correct procedure. Once paired successfully, you now have sound thru the car system. So we have a lot of uses for the little transmitter. We have a banana phone and a kid microphone. If we can pair that up with a bluetooth speaker then can do sound thru that. Also can pair with Bluetooth headphones. The thing is small like 1x2-inch at most
