'pends what the problem turns out to be. Some are glaringly obvious, some are headscratchers. "Check hybrid system" covers a very wide territory. Might also depend on the dealership. They definitely have the tools and information to find and repair the specific problems; that's what their own repair manual tells them to do. Generally when they give you a $5k replace-everything estimate, what they're saying is "we have enough appointments scheduled right now that will make us as much profit with less effort, so we don't need to do your repair at the moment, thanks."
