My 2010 Prius just hit 280K miles yesterday and I've never had the 12V battery replaced. Has anyone experience this as well?
I also have a 2010 with the original 12 volt batt. I have it tested a couple of times a year. It has always tested good. So, I'm not wasting money on a new one!
A few have gone that long, but not many I think. It depends on how inconvenient it would be for you if it fails to start someday at a place that is not home. I think you are on borrowed time and I would replace it NOW if you intend to keep the car very much longer.
The 280K miles is likely what kept the battery in good health. Still, I would count my blessing and start shopping. Any automotive retailer selling battery will more'n likely have an electronic load tester, can check where it's at for health, CCA. Have you cleaned the EGR and intake manifold?
