Hi I have been using the round green charger a few times and I have just plugged it in and the Amps is fluctuating from 0 to .013 to .302 just random numbers and the voltage is fluctuating up and down from 160 to 165 and back down to 160. I used it last night and it was fine. Anyone have any issues like this? Here is a link to the video.
Nope! How's the connector at the end of the DC cable and the plug on the charger where it plugs into? Especially the cable end. Sounds like there might have been some arcing causing burnt connectors.
I have checked continuity through the cable and its ok. I have a video uploaded in my previous post. The voltage is actually steady now its just the amps fluctuating.
That's encouraging, but it doesn't guarantee that all the sockets in the cable and the and pins on the charger are connecting well with each other ... just that the probes on your meter made good connections. They often push right through soot and other contaminants plus a socket could be loose. I've had plenty of events like that as an industrial electrician. If those are all good, then I think you'll want to check with Jeff at Hybrid Automotive. You might have a warranty issue.
Sorry, but the video won't play for me, but If you note the voltage shown on the static image you will notice that it is under 202 V. It does that when below 202 V. Once the voltage reaches 201 V and above the current will stabilize.
Again your video does not play. Maybe host them on youtube? Or check your permissions on your google drive. Incidentally, jerrymildred makes a very good point about the connections. Make sure they are solidly connected before turning the charger on.
Won't play for me either, but @dolj had it figured out in post #5. It's been a few years since I've used ours, but I think I remember seeing the same thing. It's normal.
Dolj - You seem correct under 200V it was fluctuating as you can...hopefully see from the video over 200V it is now steady.
This is normal behavior under 203 volts. It will stabilize as you have seen. Good luck with your reconditioning.
I have a little better luck with mine it only does the same thing your seeing when the battery is discharged to 83 volts during a discharge cycle it goes nutty likes yours for a few hours although it is charging and few hours later when its reached like 175 volts it straightens out. Its common issue it cannot handle a high load. You must have let your battery sit for a while and it became seriously depleted. That's not good to do that letting it sit depleted like that. I would do a full discharge cycle on it asap down to 85 volts. Full charge is like 35 hours.
