I’ve been gone from home for close to a month. Have not driven the car much in the last 6 months. Got a dash signal saying check hybrid system. The last time it did this I drive it done and it charged up and seemed fine. This time it doesn’t show that the battery’s are being charged and I started smelling smoke in the cabin when I pulled in the driveway. I pulled the small battery plastic cover and smelled inside. I don’t think it’s coming from that battery but I do smell smoke under the seat. Should I just get it towed to dealer?
Just got it home from dealer. Ended up being the ECU modulator(that’s the term Toyota guy used)that’s connected to the main battery unit. Ended up shorting out and fried taking my main hybrid battery out with it. Wasn’t cheap. They couldn’t tell me why it happened.
I smelled smoke inside our Prime today, but for a different reason: Wildfire season and we had lightning storms over the weekend. Unfortunate mix .
Well, you've come to the right place. Or at least we have a thread about it, even if we still can't really tell you why it happened either.
