Hi am getting ready to replace the antenna base for the second time and am wondering if there is a better alternative. These devices are not well documented. I have been told the number is 86960-47011. Today toyota refused to give me the part number over the phone. But-heads!. When I look it up, I get different looking parts and it is annoying. I have a 2010 third gen Prius with the JVC Satellite system. Any help? Any new developments since hte last posts 33 years ago?
You could go aftermarket..... Laird makes GPS antennas that work great on the various parts of the spectrum that GPS use. They can help you pick out the right model. This is the one we'd pick; https://www.lairdconnect.com/rf-antennas/gnss-and-gps-antennas/gps1575p-asset-tracking-external-gps-antenna .
I didn't mention this option specifically because stock OEM headunits use different connectors from the traditional push together style like in your link so those aren't a plug-n-play solution for the OP.
