Hello folks!!! I am in the process of getting another prius. The owner says they don't have the key to the vehicle. I have another prius as a parts care that has a working key. I would like to know what I need to swap for the new vehicle to actual power on? The junk care is a 2005 and the second care is 2006. Any information would be great.
Might have to swap ECU and immobiliser... Alternatively you can hook up Toyota Techstream and buy some fobs and wipe old keys and reseed new ones. This usually requires an electronic locksmith who is paying Toyota Techstream monthly for access to these secure features. But there is a work around from a person in Europe who will do a mathematical calculation with your Vin# to give you access to that feature for ~$30.
You'll need a 'mini-vci' cable and techstream on a windows device. There may be other options, but this link might be helpful : Lexus, Scion, Toyota PASSCode Calculator / Generator: Calculate Pass-code by Seed number | Immobilizer Pincode Calculator
