I bought a refurbished pack back in February and up until now its been performing incredibly A solid 49 to 50 mpg avg This week my mpg dropped to 40 and just now saw the charge level spike from near near zero to full green. Scanned it and have a pending PA80 code This pack should be in warranty, I got it from 2nd life batteries. However if its not... who is a good option for NEW modules?
New OEM modules are only available from a Toyota dealer. If you must have OEM modules a pack from a low mileage wrecked Prius is your only other reasonable choice. @2k1Toaster has a kit of new cylindrical cells that basically gives you a new pack for $1600 delivered. You can sell any if your old modules to lower the cost further.
How much would the whole set of used modules be worth? I've been in communication with the owner of the company and he wants me to run some tests. I ran techstream and didn't see any pending codes on there like I did on my autel Here is the data I pulled First two are with car at idle 2nd two are with the car in accessory mode
That's a good sign. Catch him at the right time on the phone and you may have a friendship out of it, as in he's honest and generous. Also always has the best modules / packs in my experience. Scholarly type, always investing in upgrading his equipment too... Just got another $20K rig for transition to Lithium. Fascinating what he does way out in the middle of nowhere My strategy has been to bring him a junkyard pack I buy every once in a while and get modules and sometimes chassis. Always the best module in every pack are his spare modules.
So he's gonna take care of this right? He sounds like he just wants me to stress test it and go from there. Should I run live data for the modules in techstream and drive it around? What's the best way to do that?
Not sure what his protocol is but if he's asking you to test stuff that seems like a good sign. The more you can DIY this the better and seeing as you know your way around techstream swapping your own battery pack isn't that much more diffcult.
Why won't tech stream let me look at data with the car running? I'm trying to see the voltage levels of this battery under load but it keeps saying it lost communication with the vehicle whenever I start the car.
I'd suspect the OBDII cable. Is it a cheap MVCI? If yes, try another cable. You might need to get 3 or 4 before you get one that is reliable. If that doesn't appeal, try the VxDiag cable.
A better cable SHOULD be more reliable, however I use a genuine Mongoose Pro Toyota cable and still have loss of comm here and there. Before you get too far, make sure your 12V battery is good. If it is weak then you can have a glitch when you try to Ready up. Another option might be to get the Dr Prius app with one of the reccomended OBD2 dongles (go to the Dr Prius site). Then you can log the pertinent data from the HV battry ecu. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
