My daughter has a 06 Prius. I am not sure of the pkg. She is in college in IL and called me yesterday and said she got a brake light, check engine and the triangle with the exclamation point. I had her take to an o'riley auto parts to get it scanned. Attached are the pics. She said the brakes do not feel any different nor does the car drive any different. Could this be battery related? I sent the scan to a toyota dealer and they said $2700 with out even seeing the car.
Probably not battery related, as the condition is likely detected when the car is in READY and there is plenty of power coming from the converter, not the battery. Your second attachment shows what the detection conditions are. If the brakes don't feel any different yet and the car doesn't drive any differently yet, then this trouble code has done what it is there to do: warn you of trouble before it's too late.
I had identical codes on one of my Venzas. It was an ABS sensor. I don’t remember the cost but it was hundreds not thousands of dollars.
ABS actuator failure is becoming quite common. How many miles on the car? Check the engine oil too asap.
is that some kind of statistical bell curve .. showing the top 68% of failures occurr within 1 sigma of an average useage amount ?
