Anyone done with, willing to part with, or rent out their Prolong Deluxe Reconditioning Package ? Especially in Maryland/DC area? I have the necessary harness, and am flexible on meeting/timing of use if you are up for renting. Obviously willing to compensate up to near orig. $. I'll take links to sales sites, but PriChat members preferred.
ackermal, I am new on this forum. I have been reading about the Prolong Deluxe Reconditioning Package on this forum for the past few months. I own a 2011 Prius with 117k miles on it. I bought a OBDII Bluetooth adapter and the Dr. Prius app to check my hybrid battery recently. My battery seems to be in fair condition. I can not justify spending the $700 to buy the Prolong system for myself, but if I can find two other people that live fairly close by, I would be willing to share the Prolong system. I live in York, PA which might not be that far from you. How many miles do you live from York, PA?
I'm in Canada and also trying to find folks to share a grid charger. After exchange price is upwards of $700cdn and is prohibitive. Would rather then spend the money on a new battery, $2300 in Canada. Also looking at trying to build a charger. Have noticed plans to build one using a Meanwell LED driver, Meanwell power supply also used in the Prolong. Cost of building charger is less than $100. Can I borrow your battery charger/balancer/reconditioner? | PriusChat These links are for a Honda insight but same idea. The youtube video uses 2 for the Insight, you need 3 ($13 each) for the Gen 2 Prius https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/MEAN-WELL/APC-35-350/?qs=%2Fha2pyFadujitiXKI3Am59jVMxwoQShdVJfANkhx6fEbVL20LNBrEw%3D%3D OlRowdy01 V2 Grid Charger Build (Illustrated) | Honda Insight Forum Olrowdy01 grid charger/discharger | Page 7 | Honda Insight Forum
Don’t hesitate in buying it, in reality you always can sell it and get hundreds of dollars back so it’s not $700 it’s whatever you don’t get back at the time you sell it, second I can tell you the system allows to repair you hybrid battery as many times you need very easy because the simplicity of doing everything at once so a better choice than buying a refurbished from the auto parts store but you have to know if you replace a module one it’s because you battery it’s old so you will have to replace more module in the near future don’t expect another 10 years of trouble free lol, expect couple months or a year or more if you very lucky, so if you have not problem removing the hybrid battery from the car every time if needed the prolong it’s definitely a great choice, but I warning you something, is a chance you hybrid battery may not recover from a reconditioning treatment so you may have to remove the hybrid battery to replace failed module or modules be aware of that, if you for any reason can’t remove the hybrid battery from the car and work on it please stay away from the prolong system and you best bet it’s a new new hybrid battery, that’s my 2 cents.
