Hi there, first time poster, long time lurker. I bought a Red 2015 Prius v in August 2019, and it's my dream car. First one I bought myself, and so I want to really trick it out. I've done a bit of research on this forum about different upgrades and customization, and I have a few questions. I hear a lot of people on this forum talking about grafting bars onto the car to somehow improve the handling. How does this improve the handling? I'm not racing my Prius, but I do like to take it on long drives. Would this improve my experience? Are there mods out there for a Prius v that would improve it for road trips? On the inside, I'm planning on buying a Clazzio seat cover with heated seat attachment. They recommend professional installation, but is this something I have to go to a dealership for? What kind of shops do people take installations like this to? Thank you!
The rear bar was a fantastic add, from the standpoint of every day tracking and cornering, and made a huge positive difference in highway interchange and lane change stability.
The TRD rear sway bar reduces the car's leaning on curvy roads and reduces understeer, making it a bit more fun on those roads. It has no effect on straight line driving such as freeways etc. An automotive upholstery show would install the heated seat covers- google will find many in your area. There are also heated seat inserts that can be installed under your existing seat covers if they are in good shape. Again, an upholstery shop would do that. I'd look at online reviews and visit one or two shops and see what they recommend and how much it would cost.
"The TRD rear bar... has no effect on straight line driving such as freeways" But made a significant improvement in highway lane change stability and in maneuvering at speed.
Yes, absolutely. But I suspect a lot of Prius drivers don't really engage in "maneuvering at speed" lol!
The car HAS some anti-roll bars? The mods either beef them up or add more? There’s no way I’d personally get into this, the car handles good enough as-is lol.
