That's different from LKA. LKA is active lane keeping. LDA w/ Steering Assist is semi-active. (i.e. it only nudges you when you cross the line)
Yes she gets the alerts but not the keep it in the lane with your hands on the wheel as long as the lanes are well marked that LKA provides. LKA is restful to use on long trips. Looking in the list of features/options, LKA just isn't there. On a $46.6k list car with all the options????!!!!
It’s Toyota. When they moved to TSS-P, they decided to go with LDA and leave LKA for Lexus. The Prius was the outlier with LKA. (no other vehicle in its class had it). Also, when TSS-P 2.0 was designed, the Avalon was already signed off. 2.0 adds Lane Trace Assist. Not quite LKA but it does follow the centre of the lane on curves.
I took a peek at the Avalon Hybrids. Looks like you can get some great deals on them in the used market...with surprisingly few miles on them. I'm assuming that is because 'older' people often drive the Avalon and put fewer miles on them? Edit...I'm also seeing some super deals on used Camry Hybrids. Like 2020 SE models with13K miles for around 24K. Quite a few more in that area. Actually, it looks like the Camry hybrids have fewer miles than the Avalons do now that I look closer.
