Since when is this a Subaru forum? I know they have tranny failures but Honda is probably the leader of that pack especially at the turn of the century.
A bunch of Prius owners have a Subie in the other half of the garage, we did for years. And i'm shopping for another one right now, likely to pick up a 3ish year old Legacy this summer. You are correct, Honda had a bunch of problems back then but I think Ford is the current champ. That Powershift 6-speed auto they did for the Fiesta & Focus has been an unmitigated disaster for them. The latest settlement will probably have them installing 2 or 3 free transmissions in each Focus still on the road over the next 7 years.
