I’m at a loss, I was disconnecting the 12v battery in my wife 2013 Prius and saw oil under the battery…I have no clue what it’s from or how it got there. Does anyone have any information on something like this?
Since there's no oil back there, we'll need some more information: - Do you store oil in the luggage area? Could it have leaked? - Have you had any work done on the car recently? - Are you original owner? - I'm out of questions...
This is a known problem with this Prius... A leak in the roof seams at the rear hatch or under black decorative strips on the roof is where the water gets in. Sometimes cleaning under those roof strips is all it takes to stop the leak. As for it being oil and not rusty water, I'm skeptical of that claim... Regardless, pop out that black plastic drain plug so water drains out quickly until you patch the leak.
It's not news and it's not fake... It's simply skepticism of a claim that may of not been investigated thoroughly enough... If that was oil it would of got to that location by way of the car's interior so there should be oil stain damage in the cars upholstery or carpeting.
I’m the original owner. It’s my wife car and I drive it every now and again but I don’t recall ever spilling oil back there. I do get the oil changed at Toyota so it’s possible they spilt some oil…weird I just wanted to make sure that it wasn’t some weird hybrid thing. Thanks for the info Also there was a little water mixed in with the oil but not to much.
You're wrong... It was a conversation to get more details, not a broadcast of misinformation... Seriously dude... Sometimes I wonder why I don't hit the "ignore" button on you. We're here to help people with Prius issues not act like a troll.
knowing toyota oil change monkees, they probably went back to disconnect the 12v with the oil gun in hand and squirted it while doing so
