Hello, I have had my 2010 Prius for about 7 yrs now. I added the dr Prius app and ordered the appropriate obd Bluetooth device as to check my battery health. My sister in Iowa has found a 2005, 1 owner, Prius that she is thinking of buying. It has 122,000 miles. I was hoping to do a diagnostic on the batteries (12v and Hv) when we go to look at it (it’s located at a small town dealer). How do I do this for this year? In dash? Obd device? Thank you! Farrah
Without test equipment, I do the following; 1. Get Gen2 to operating temperature (less time required in the summer), 2. Drive Gen2 on very flat highway at 60mph with all electric devices off (preferably during daylight so headlights are not required); 3. Reset MFD cumulative mileage meter; 4. Drive Gen2 at 60mph for at least 1 mile (2 or 3 miles would be better); and 5. Record cumulative gas mileage as displayed on the MFD. If HV battery is in decent shape then the gas mileage should be greater than 50mpg. Best of luck.
