Sup y'all, I'm a former prius owner. Sold my prius 4 years ago at 130k miles. Anyway, I miss my prius and I'm now looking to buy another one again. This time just a used one with high mileage just to drive around town, get groceries, errands, etc. I remember my prius a few years ago, the suspension was still solid even at 130k miles. I feel like these cars suspension doesn't wear as much as other cars do because of their light weight. What is y'all experience with your high mileage suspension? Anyone here notice any difference at all as far as wear and tear, ride comfort, etc? I'm looking to buy one between 100k-150k miles. Thanks again prius fam!
I bought some rear shocks and struts for my Prius 260K mile Prius that I've yet to put on because I always drive so slow that performance issues aren't that noticeable.
Do you still have the original factory suspension from 0 miles brand new? and it has 260k miles now? Thanks.
yes... all original everything except for what's in my signature... Freeway miles on West coast in US is not so hard on the car...
242,000+ miles on mine, the struts are about gone. I started noticing about 5000 miles back. The left one is making noise over semi small bumps, and while turning. It's next on my list to replace. Car still rides smooth though!
hello "y'all" right back 180k miles, and the only time I notice the suspension is lacking is when I have 4 adults and a trailer (maybe 175# tongue) loaded. the rear feels the worst, but it's not bad. at 200k miles I'll replace all the springs and struts, because I know it will be nicer after
The Prius wasn't designed to two anything. Toyota says NOT to do it. So you can't judge how your suspension is when you have a trailer.
Im working on a full heavy-duty suspension for my car right now, currently only have the rear springs. I recently received another set of new springs and waiting to hear back on the shocks/struts. Hopefully, when I'm back from my drive to Alaska they will be waiting on me. Heavy Duty Springs on my Toyota Prius is a game changer! - black_jmyntrn
