I have a 2013 that has been trouble free. A few months ago my 12 volt battery died, got it jumped & all was fine. Happened again, no lights left on etc so since it was the original battery I bough a new one. I had to jump start it to get the hatch unlocked. All lights, locks, were fine, engine started but I didn’t drive it. A few hours later lights, locks, gear shifting was fine but the Hybrid System Failure warning was on. Since it was running I pulled put of driveway & the engine (& power steering) shut off after 10 feet. Lights & dash all working. Following advice from here I dis & reconnected the 12 volt battery. Would turn on a few seconds as before. I couldn’t get all the fuses out so I quit. One last try & it started running. All of 2 blocks. All lights, dash, locks working fine but engine & power steering off. My assumption is that the 12 volt is working but the hybrid power is not coming on. Ideas?
Welcome to PriusChat!! Generally speaking, if there are warning lights on the dash, then there will be OBD2 codes (DTCs) stored in the ECUs. Locate a hybrid compatible OBD2 code scanner, and post any retrieved codes (DTCs) in this thread for further guidance.
Don't assume anything. "New" 12 V batteries often come almost fully discharged. And sometimes you will get a bad one too. So, be absolutely sure that your new battery and it's main connections are good before you chase something else.
