hello, i have a 2011 Prius, recently I changed the CR1632 coin cell battery in my key fob and now it don't seem to lock or unlock the doors. the key fob doesn't get detect while inside the vehicle, however i can turn on the car by holding the fob near the start button. the red indicator led on the top left corner of the fob doesn't work either. The multimeter reads exactly 3.0v. does anybody know what is causing this problem? there are no extra keys or other devices that could be causing an interference. Thanks
Maybe the problem wasn't dead battery but the car's sensors that detect the Fob are off? Gen2 Prius have a button you can push under steering wheel for this, but not sure about Gen 3?
there is only tire pressure sensor button under the steering wheel, please see attached. Is there a designated fuse just for the fob detection? also the red led doesn't turn on when i press lock or unlock buttons on the fob so at least that doesn't have anything to do with the car settings. so the problem could be the fob itself?
Is the new battery known to be good? Did you make sure it wasn't in upside down? OK, assuming all that is OK, was the FOB previously damaged, submerged, etc? Also, check inside to make sure there is nothing causing a short. FYI, the fact that you can hold it up to the power button and start doesn't mean a lot. That is a completely different part of the FOB that needs no power like a keycard that gets you into a building. Mike
If it read 3.0volts, it's dead. It should be 3.6 volts. Are you sure you didn't put the old battery back in? If not, they you got an old battery. There should be a date on the package...
