I tried disconnecting the A/C and the code still apperad. Any common failure points that create this code? I don’t have the tool to get the subcodes. Mpg is 32 not sure if this is related. Since used cars are over proced I might as well fix this one as cheaply as possible
In a 2004-2009 Prius, the P0AA6 is caused by the HV battery about 95% of the time. Usually one or more of the 28 individual modules inside the battery has an electrolyte leak/seep that manages to contact the steel case. This causes a reduction in the isolation between the HV system and the car body, which triggers the code.
Either a tool for reading the subcodes, or a tool for measuring megohms, or both, will be basic tools for this job. Not having the tool isn't an insoluble problem.
Thank you. The car is worn. I Just posted pictures on the200,000mi club plus. It shows the damage on the car.
