Using my Ioniq 5 to charge the wife's Prius Prime Limited. It's charging at 1.4kW/hr. It took a little over 5 hours to fully charge from 0 to full. The Ioniq 5 came with two years unlimited charging so charging the PP this way makes sense even thou I have solar power.
nice ride! iirc the European ionic 5's will charge cars (or back feed a house) 2X (240v) as fast as what we get in the USA. did you get the AWD version? bigger or smaller battery?
Nice! I can't see from the photo, but is there 120v outlet on the side of Ioniq 5? The time it took to fully charge the PP is the same as regular L1 EVSE. It means the charger in the PP is working at the 120v @12Amp L1 level. I wonder what the max amp it can draw from the Ioniq 5?
In the US, you have to buy a J1772 to 120v adaptor (V2L - Vehicle to Load). I read somewhere that the max draw/transfer is 3.6kW. As mentioned by hill, this max draw is only for the EU version. The Ioniq 5 Limited has the 120v plug built-in under the rear seats but from my understanding the car must be turned on and configured to use it. Where as the outside V2L is just plug and use, car can stay off.
That's a really nice feature. Prius Prime (aka Prius PHV) also the Gen1 Pip sold in Japan has had Vehicle to Load capability built-in. It was meant to be used for Japanese 100V appliances and can also connect to a special charge box off from the main panel of the house to run an entire load of a small house using the PP as a generator in case of emergency. The feature was never introduced in the US.
Around 16A at 1.9kW. But when charging another car, max power is reduced to 1.4kW. You can choose the minimum battery SOC before V2L shuts off to ensure you have enough charge to make it home or to a charging station (if you were using V2L for camping for instance).
