What purpose does this serve and is the dealer the place to get a replacement one. I noticed it missing one day last week and have no idea what caused it to fall off. I have seen tow hitch covers on former cars, but they always had a wire to prevent this happening .
You're right it is a tow hook cover. No, they don't have a string to keep them there. You can get them from the dealer or online. Update Dealer sold me one for 35.00 and asked if I wanted it painted by the body shop for 150.00 I declined the paint option!
When I replaced one on my 2016 Prius, I had the dealer paint it for me. At the last minute the dealer realized that they were painting another Prius the same color so they painted the tow hook cover for me for free. JeffD
Maybe you can find a color-matched spray can? Also, put some silicone sealant or similar on the retainer jaws; something to bond it in there.
