Can you do this with techstream and a PC?

That's just what was suggested in post #9, only that post made it sound like a "fix", where I would call it more of a stopgap.

I just need a stopgap for now. I noticed that my car scanner labeled the 0293 error as "permanent"....does this mean anything?

??? your "the 0293 error" seems to be the first mention of any 0293 error by anyone in this thread ???

Also, please include the letter that starts a code. I'm guessing you mean a U0293 that you mentioned in a different thread about zapping your car, but only because I think I remember that.

Post #9 was about overriding a feature that prevents cranking the engine if the hybrid battery is so discharged that trying to crank might ruin it.

So, it's something you might try if:
    • your car won't crank,
    • you know the reason it isn't cranking is the lockout for low traction battery charge, and not some other problem (obviously, that override won't help if something else is the reason the car doesn't crank),
    • you really just need to make maybe one drive to a shop to get the real problem fixed, and
    • you're ok with taking a chance on ruining the traction battery to do that.

About to confirm the situation in her 2014. Replaced the "glass unit" last night to no avail. Same P1A161, P1A64, P1A67, P31AB and P314A. Hoping the last code is only the inverter pump is going bad.

Even so with the P314A looming, decided for Mothers Day I'd see if replacing the 12V battery along with the "READY ON prevention cancel" Utility process would work this time. With the new 12V battery the Utility process was happy and I power cycled and the Prius started as well as charged the battery into the green. On a side note, the option to Erase the Hybrid Codes button was not active nor was the Data List for any of the codes. Though the car was on and confirmed the engine sounded good at least.

While powered On, I tried the EV/HV button cycle and either that or some random ECO Mode PWR Mode button press a few seconds after seemed to persuade the Prius to begin charging where the bars went up a couple more. Once that stopped, I powered off and plugged in the Nissan Leaf charger I got from the self serve yard and to my amazement the Prius was happy charging for the first time for her. Will see how performs in the long run and will update as I can.

Was neat to drive the car up and down her driveway as has only been towed since she got in a not working condition. With the other "glass unit" there was a P1A00 and P301A code as well, so not certain if was related to that HV sense ECU or not.

That will be great if the only issue was the car sat due to the prior owner thinking the Inverter-Converter assembly needed replacing possibly and they gave up on where only the 12V needed replacing and the "READY ON prevention cancel" Utility process needed performed with HV charging subsequent.

@ChapmanF is correct on a stopgap, at least in her situation I'm working on again apprehensively. Albeit, she suckered me into the slightest bit of optimism, along with reading potential others apparent simple successes.

P1A05, P1A0A, P1A64 & P1A67 with the typical seems related to HV pack situation P314A as-left. Smells like magic smoke coming from around Stack "D" I'm smelling.

Hybrid system codes clear with the Autel MAXIAP200 reader other than the 2 ABS VSC ones, though immediately return and the Prius is basically in the not able to go into READY mode ON situation prior as-found.

This time charge indicated by MFD is almost full and I recall Live Mode data that one block was something like ~26.8V and a highest block ~27.5V. So without a doubt the HV battery cells going bad and thankfully the Prius engineers designed safely to prevent a worse situation from what I am observing. Not certain if original pack with ~241K miles on. I almost think the HV Pack is bulging up a little where the smell is coming from, though I have a headache after being out in the sun and coming back from the yard seeing her on the side of the road with the kids misbehaving.

Adding reference as well to the other post I made a while back when I first looked into this one thinking almost immediately needed a good working HV pack. Prius Plug In P1A00, P1A61, P1A64, P1A67, P301A, P314A, P31AB | PriusChat
