I can't find any reference to answer this question. Visually, it appears that the gen 2 front strut will fit my gen 1. Will gen 2 front struts fit on my gen 1 ? Or are there other crossovers that anybody here knows of?
As fast as that would go I would just have to try it I don't own a gen 1 I've wanted one for a while haven't been able to find one in good enough shape worth trying to keep I just like the way they look and I would have to say pretty much yes most Corolla prius Yaris parts pretty much swap around . Of course not the electronics
Rockauto.com shows different part numbers for a Gen1/Gen 2, but maybe the only way to know for sure is to give it a try. Just be careful. A little un-noticed difference may make a big difference in your driving experience.
They are a different part number at autozone also. The strut itself (not fully loaded) is also a different part number. I don't think I would waste the time.
I forget the details now, but there was a difference when I tried to swap the front hub assembly off an 01 parts car to one of my later models, I think it was an '02. Had to buy parts instead.
I would think to use the orig hub assy using just the strut assy. You can use camber eccentric bolts to make adjustments.if needed .
04 05 struts only might bolt to gen 1 just strut. And the older days of Toyotas in celicas and stuff like that. Twas common to use other strut tubes with different tops and different control arms and lower ball joints with various and sundry camber caster spacer plates and all kinds of nonsense went on all the time it's hard for me to imagine that you can't fit about any struck tube you want to to a given lower control arm with a given top but that's just me and of course still maintain and have a proper alignment for god sakes.
