I may have accidentally gotten a dated report Mercedes EVs we’re not coming to the USA and/or shutting down one model due to low sales. Did I miss anything more recent. UPDATE: Tesla Daily reports the EQC is being closed down. Bob Wilson
Heh, has a future vehicle page at Mercedes' site. EQC | Future Vehicles | Mercedes-Benz USA It's built on an ICE platform, and they have a new models coming out on their electric platform. https://www.electrive.com/2022/07/13/mercedes-rumoured-to-drop-the-eqc-in-2023/ Mercedes hasn't confirmed or denied the end of production, but they are probably better off shifting resources to the new models.
One criticism of traditional manufacturers is they design their EVs to be like their ICE vehicles . . . often the same body and manufacturing. So things like the front trunk and overly complex heating and air conditioning show up time and time again on bloated competition EVs. Then a Tesla rolls by and passes them on the highway and their non-Tesla charging stations. Mercedes has proven ICE design rules don't work in an EV market. Bob Wilson
If Tesla had existing platforms, they would have taken the same path. In fact, they used an ICE platform from Lotus for the Roadster. The ICE 'conversions' from the traditional car companies were a way for them to get a BEV to market quickly while working on BEV platforms. That is what the EQC was, and it will be retired now that the ground up BEV models are ready.
EQS is here and EQE will arrive soon. EQB is set to arrive soon as well (the embargo for the reviews was lifted this week). 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE Review, Pricing, and Specs EQE350+ and EQE500 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB Review, Pricing, and Specs EQB300 and EQB350 (In this case, same battery for both, just different motors for different power levels and price points)
The EQC is being dropped in Australia. It's sold really badly. It's overpriced and a bit rubbish. I'm going to test drive an EQB (also a conversion from ICE, from the GLB) this weekend. And a Model Y. Both have been launched in Australia in the last couple of weeks.
There were a ton of Mercedes EQx’s at MB of Ontario (California): EQB EQE sedan EQE SUV EQS sedan EQS SUV They had 55 EQBs in stock from which we took one….
Mercedes Benz of Kansas City had 2 EQB's and both were out as loaners. There is a dark Blue EQE on the showroom floor next the the Black Aston Martin ....Going to try test driving them again in a few weeks. Interior was Mercedes Plush unlike the simple MY. But higher price tag and a different car...
